photoselective vaporization of the prostate
= PVP
a technique to vaporize the prostate by means of a laser, used to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (see prostate gland). It is associated with fewer problems than a traditional TURP (see resection), but cannot be easily used on very large prostates.
